Have you ever seen a yarn from across a room and, even from a distance, you know it’s beautiful? That yarn pulls you closer, around tables and chairs, past other beautiful piles of yarn, getting prettier with every step. Then, when you reach it, the real magic happens…It’s even better up close. Little specks of green and purple that you couldn’t possibly see across the room, are suddenly dancing on the skein. The Up Close cardigan was designed to celebrate those special skeins that are truly magical from any vantage point. With a dramatic shawl collar, this cardigan plays with texture to showcase your prettiest skeins. Using Dip Stitches and stockinette, this comfy cardigan will make every moment you spend up close with your yarn a little thrill.

This pattern includes a full photo tutorial for working Dip Stitches. It also includes a section to help you modify the circumference of your sleeves, so you can achieve the best fit for you.

This cardigan is worked from the top down seamlessly. The yoke is worked flat. Then, the sweater is divided for the body and the sleeves. The sleeves are placed on hold while you work from the underarm to the hem. The sleeves are placed back on the needles and worked in the round from the underarm to the wrist. Finally, the collar is picked up and worked flat. The collar is created with a combination of short rows, ribbing, and dip stitches. This pattern includes waist shaping, but it can be easily omitted.
