Garland
Garland
Garland began as a Christmas gift to myself. In the spirit of the season, I cast on sweaters for myself and my girls. I started late with plans to make at least three sweaters, and I knew from the very first stitch that I would not have all the sweaters done by Christmas. And so, with a knitting bag full of beautiful colors, I designed a festive pullover that could be worn all year long.
Knit seamlessly from the top down, the Garland pullover is a holiday sweater to celebrate every single day of the year. This pullover is wonderful way to use up mini skeins from your stash. This pattern includes a complete breakdown of the yardages for every vine in the sweater (all 6 in the yoke and 2 on the wrists). There are absolutely no floats to catch in the entire sweater, so it is a great garment for beginning colorwork knitters. If you would like to give your sweater an extra pinch of holiday cheer, this pattern includes a “holly” modification for the yoke.
At the end of this pattern, I have included detailed instructions for modifying this sweater to fit your body. This includes instructions for changing the length of your yoke, the number of vines, the length of your sleeves, and the circumference of your sleeves so you can get the perfect fit for you.
