Grate
Grate
Inspiration is absolutely EVERYWHERE! This pattern was inspired by the beautiful metal grates that are sprinkled all over Indiana University campus. For years, I have been leaning against lovely metalwork all over the university while I wait for my kiddos or husband and knit my knits. This sweater was designed to celebrate the everyday beauty that is quietly hiding in the corners of our lives.
This is a SEAMLESS pullover worked from the bottom up. This pattern begins with a bit of uncomplicated (and quick) stranded colorwork at the hem of the sweater. Then, the body is worked in stockinette the round. Next, the front and back yokes are knit flat (and identically). After a bit of shoulder shaping, the upper edge of the shoulder is joined with a 3-needle bind off. Finally, the sleeves are picked up and knit from the underarm to the wrist, where you will have just a touch more colorwork to wrap up a fun, fast, and GREAT, I mean, GRATE sweater.
